Sheppard Claimed By Death Sunday Infection After Tonsillectomy Results In Death After only a brief illness, Miss Willie B. Sheppard, age 32 years, 11 months, died at her home on Lafayette Street, Winnfield, June 18, at 2:30 p.m. On Wednesday, June 7, Miss Sheppard underwent an operation of her tonsils, which resulted in an infection and her death. The deceased was born at Coushatta, later coming to Joyce where her mother, Mrs. F. B. Sheppard, now resides. Eight years ago, she came to Winnfield where she was a well-known seamstress. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. J. A. Cockerham, of Winnfield. Active pallbearers were G. F. Provence, W. L. Wilkerson, Lee Roy Walton, Theron Lovell, Rufus Wilkerson, and J. T. Bolton. Interment was in the Union Cemetery, June 19, at 3 o'clock, under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home of Jonesboro. She is survived by her mother, Mrs. B. F. Sheppard, Joyce; two sisters, Mrs. Ira Newman, Winnfield, and Miss Robeline Shepard of Dallas, Texas; and two brothers, Bunk and Woodrow W. Sheppard of Joyce. Out of town relatives attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Fred Glover, Coushatta; Mr. and Mrs. Jim Taylor, Tremont; Mrs. Jess Sheppard, Kirthwood, and a host of other relatives and friends.
