Aged Resident Dies Tuesday At Home Here

J. A. Shetley, 88, Is Buried In Goldonna Cemetery Wednesday

J. A. Shetley, 88 years of age, died at his home here early Tuesday morning,
following an illness of several months.

Funeral services were held at the home and at the First Methodist Church
Wednesday morning with the pastor, Rev. Ellis Smith, in charge.  Interment was
in the Goldonna Cemetery.

Mr. Shetley was a native of Missouri, moving to Oakdale, La. in 1918.  Eight
years ago he came to Winnfield where he made his home until his death.  He was
a retired farmer and a member of the local Methodist Church.

Surviving are the widow, Mrs. J. A. Shetley; one son and five daughters.  They
are Maynard Shetley, Miss Laura Shetley, Miss Kathleen Shetley, Winnfield;
Mrs. S. C. Stinson, Calvin; Mrs. G. A. Bess, Granite City, Ill.; and Mrs.
T. E. Hewitt, Oakdale, La.  One brother in Marquend, Mo., and one sister in
Oakland, Calif., also survive.
