All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** >From the August 17, 1951 Winnfield News-American Funeral Services For Simon Shively, Sr., Held Sunday Funeral services were held Sunday, August 12, for Simon Shively, Sr., 55, at Siloam Baptist Church at Gansville. Officiating at the services were Rev. C. M. Robinson and Rev. George Roberts. Mr. Shively died in a Monroe hospital after a lengthy illness and interment was in the Siloam Cemetery under the direction of the Southern Funeral Home of Jonesboro. Mr. Shively was born and reared in Winn Parish, in which time he made many friends and was well known throughout the parish. He was a member of the Siloam Baptist Church, which he had joined at an early age. Due to his serious illness, he had not been able to attend church for several months. Surviving, besides his wife, Inez Mixon Shively, are his seven children, Dewitt, Edwin, Simon, Jr., and Jerry Lynn of Gansville; Mrs. J. D. Jolley of Shreveport; Mrs. Fred O'Neal of Goldonna; and Leroy Shively of Winnfield. Five sisters and three brothers, Mrs. Dell Duck of Jonesboro; Mrs. Lula Boutain of New Orleans; Mrs. Armo Jones of Goldonna; Mrs. Carrie Taylor of Gansville; Mrs. Lillie Crowson of Monroe; Tom Shively of Winnfield; Wilson Shively of Gansville, and Hardy Shively of Jonesboro. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives. Pallbearers were: Abe Prestridge, Beauford Taylor, Clifton Coon, Ed Lewis, Floyd Shively, and Arthur Prestridge. (Submitted by Greggory Ellis Davies, Winnfield, Winn Parish, LA.)
