James W. Shows Joyce Resident Buried Jan. 19

Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. January 19 in the Joyce Assembly of
God Church at Joyce for James Warren Shows, who died January 17, in a local
hospital following a short illness.

The deceased was well known in Winn Parish, having lived most of his life
here.  He had resided in Joyce for the past 12 years in the home of his
daughter, Mrs. Clarence Simon.

He was born on December ??, 1872, in Winn Parish and was 80 years, 1 month,
and 16 days old at the time of his death.

Rev. Smith of Natchez, Miss., and Rev. David White officiated at the last
rites.  Interment was in the East Winnfield Cemetery.

The deceased is survived by two sons, William P. Shows of Joyce and Johnnie S.
Shows of Natchez, Miss.; and two daughters, Mrs. Elva Thompson of Rt. 4,
Winnfield and Mrs. Lillian Simon of Joyce.  One brother, Ben Shows, of Bogota,
Texas; eighteen grandchildren, and eleven great grandchildren also survive.
