Burial of Prominent Winn Parish Citizen is at Gansville Mrs. Anna Elizabeth Sholars, 78 years of age, died at her home in Dodson Thursday afternoon, July 19, at 6:40 o'clock. Funeral services were conducted at Gansville at 4:30 Friday afternoon, with Rev. B. C. Land, pastor of the Winnfield Baptist Church, Rev. Alwin Stokes, pastor of the Presbyterian Church of Winnfield, and Rev. Ellis Smith, pastor of the Methodist Church, also of Winnfield, conducting the funeral rites. Active pallbearers included Hasson Morris, W. J. Pyburn, Dodson, W. H. Peters, J. M. Breedlove, H. J. Waters, Dodson, C. F. Walsworth, Dr. A. W. Radescich, and A. I. Talton. The following were honorary pallbearers: W. T. Heflin, A. J. Taylor, J. B. Milam, Sr., W. T. Jolly, L. Lewis, W. P. Kelly, B. F. Temple, G. C. Taylor, W. W. Allen, W. L. Smith, J. W. Shelton, B. L. Anderson, Dr. S. B. Matthews, J. M. Wright, Dr. J. F. Smith, E. C. Willis, and J. E. Dark. Mrs. Sholars was born in Winn Parish on January 20, 1856, and has been a life long resident of the parish where her family has been prominent in local history. She was a member of the Dodson Baptist Church, and was active in Eastern Star work, having been a member of Unity Chapter No. 71 of Dodson. Surviving Mrs. Sholars are the following sons and daughters: Sheriff Bryant Sholars, Winnfield; Oren Sholars, Texarkana; R. D. Sholars, Kilgore, Texas; Louis Sholars, Winnfield; Mrs. J. D. Gray, Dodson; Mrs. A. E. Raywinkle, Shreveport; Mrs. M. L. Brown, Hornbeck; and Mrs. G. M. Walsworth, Winnfield. (Submitted by Greggory Ellis Davies, Winnfield, Winn Parish, LA.)
