Funeral services were held in the Connally-Compton Funeral Chapel at 4400 Waco Drive, Waco, Texas, Thursday morning at 11:30 a.m. with burial following in the Waco Memorial Cemetery. A Dodson, Louisiana native, known there by his nickname, "Humpy", Sholars was a retired Master Sergeant with the U. S. Air Force with 27 years services. After serving in Korea he was retired and had since that time resided in Waco for the past 15 or so years. Surviving are his wife, Etta, of Waco; two daughtes, Mrs. Cathy Cox of Waco and Mrs. Joan Buckanis of Long Beach, California; two step daughters, two grandsons, one granddaughter, two step granddaughters, one brother, J. R. Sholars of Tioga; three sisters, Mrs. Edna Avery of Weston, Mrs. Maude O'Bryan of Calvin, and Mrs. Jackie Boyett of Winnfield; and numerous nieces and nephews.
