Shows Passes Away in Hospital July 11 Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 12, 1950, for Rev. F. M. Shows, a Baptist minister of the gospel for 35 years. Rev. H. J. Mott officiated, assisted by Rev. W. C. Bounds, Rev. H. H. McBride, and Rev. F. M. York. Bro. Shows, loved by his many friends for his love for God, his patience, and kindness, passed away July 11, 1950 in the Baptist Hospital in Alexandria at the age of 70 years, 5 months, and 17 days. Born February 28, 1880 in the Hebron Community in Jackson Parish, he became a Christian in 1897, was baptized by Rev. A. C. Hollis, and entered the Baptist ministry in 1915. He married Mary Walker August 9, 1903, with Rev. J. W. Elliot officiating, in the Hebron Community, Jackson Parish. In 1917 he sold his place in Jackson Parish and entered La. College to prepare himself for the ministry. Among the many churches he served were Hebron, Jackson Parish; Mt. Zion, Shady Grove, Cypress Creek, Big Creek, Sugartown, Magnolia Church at Saline, Carolina Church in Bienville Association for 19 years and also Friendship Church in that association. He also pastored Womack, Thigpen, Centerpoint, Calvin and Sardis. His last pastorate being at Sardis for four years and four months, he retired because of illness. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. F. M. Shows; son, L. C. Shows; daughter in law, Mrs. Iva Lattier Shows; three brothers, J. T. Shows of Winnfield, J. C. and Marshall Shows of Jonesboro; and one sister, Mrs. George Holland of Jonesboro. Pallbearers were George Walker, Troy Smith, H. A. Cogley, F. O. Lattier, Arlin Bice, and Walter Cathey.
