All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: May 25, 1950 Winn Parish Enterprise Drowning Victim, Earl Shows, Is Buried May 24 Funeral services were held Wednesday at Ebenezer Church near Jonesboro for Earl Shows, who drowned Tuesday in Black Bayou when a boat in which he was riding capsized. Shows' brother in law, Ross Pantallion, was in the boat with him, but was saved by fishermen. Rescue squads found Shows' body Tuesday afternoon, about three hours after drowning. The drowning occurred when the boat overturned after they attempted a sharp turn in the bayou, near Porter Scallion's camp. Shows is survived by his mother, four brothers, and three sisters, all of Jonesboro, and a cousin, Mrs. R. R. Horne of Winnfield. Officiating at funeral services was Rev. Dewey Rockett, of Ebenezer Church, with burial in Ebenezer Cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Home.
