Thomas Shumate, 90, Is Buried at Mt. Zion Near Montgomery

Funeral services for Thomas T. Shumate, 90, who died at the home of his
daughter, Mrs. Ina L. Graham, 3343 Fair Street, Shreveport, Saturday of last
week, were held from the home Sunday.

The Rev. C. W. Culp, pastor of the Queensborough Baptist Church officiated and
interment was in the Mt. Zion Cemetery at 5 p.m.

Active pallbearers were Herbert, Leo, Thomas, Douglas, and Wilbert Harlan, and
Elbert Hughes.  Honorary pallbearers were members of the Men's Bible Class of
the Queensborough Baptist Church.

Mr. Shumate was born in Choctaw County, Alabama, and moved to Winn Parish,
Louisiana when a boy.  He had lived with his daughter in Shreveport since
1927.

He is survived by his wife, Mary T. Shumate; three sons, R. T. Shumate,
Montgomery, J. O. and E. S. Shumate, Shreveport; one daughter, 13
grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.
