Shaw Is Laid To Rest In Winnfield Cemetery Funeral services for Mrs. D. L. Shaw, who died at the home of her son, J. A. Shaw, in Winnfield last Friday morning, were held at the First Methodist Church Saturday morning 10 o'clock, with the Rev. C. C. Wier, pastor, in chrge, assisted by the Rev. Alwin Stokes, pastor of the Presbyterian Church. Interment was in the Winnfield Cemetery. The floral offerings were many and beautiful. Active pallbearers were W. W. Allen, J. M. Hyde, W. E. Heard, C. F. Walsworth, P. K. Abel, and B. W. Bailey. The deceased was 77 years, 8 months, and 29 days old. She was born in Montgomery, Grant Parish (Winn Parish at the time of her birth), September 13, 1853 and was before her marriage to Mr. D. L. Shaw in 1870, Miss Cornelia Elizabeth McGee. Her husband preceded her in death. She lived the greater portion of her life in and near Winnfield. She was a member of the Methodist Church. Mrs. Shaw was the mother of ten children, seven of whom survive her. They are: F. L. Shaw, H. I. Shaw, J. A. Shaw, and C. E. Shaw, of Winnfield; J. H. Shaw of Shreveport; and Mrs. R. E. Grigsby and Miss Pearl Shaw of Alexandria. Out of town relatives attending the last rites were Mrs. Alice McCurty of Coushatta, Mr. and Mrs. L. Phillips and family of Montgomery, Mrs. S. C. Shaw, superintendent of school Grant Parish, R. E. Grigsby, Earl and Reid Grigsby, and Miss Roberta Grigsby of Alexandria, Bill Shaw and Mrs. J. H. Shaw of Shreveport.
