James Warren Sikes

The Death Angel paid its silent call to Sikes, La., Sunday night at midnight
and deprived the town of its father, and leader, James Warren Sikes.

Uncle Warren as he was known by every one in this section of the country was
born near Sikes, La., on November 2, 1956.  He was a Christian from his early
boyhood and a leader in the Baptist Church.  He served as a deacon for
over thirty years and was the leader in Masonic (illegible).  In his early
days he was a farmer and when the first post office was installed in this part
of the parish he served as postmaster and held this position until a short
time ago.  The town of Sikes was named in his honor.

Uncle Warren was the father of eleven children and his widow, Mrs. Ellen Crain
Sikes, and nine living children survive him, viz., Jim, Bob, Rube, Alf,
Winnifred, Jerome, and Mrs. W. E. Thoronton, Mrs. R. Underwood, and Arley
Thompson.

The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Mark Price and the remains were
lead to the rest in the Sikes Cemetery by the local Masonic Lodge.  The entire
community paid their respects to the fallen leader and their sympathy and
love are extended to the bereaved family.

Let us endeavor to live the life of the righteous so our end may be like his.
