F. Sikes of Gaar's Mill Last Rites Conducted At Fellowship Church, Tuesday Mrs. Redden F. Sikes, 72, a lifelong resident of Winn Parish, died at her home in Gaar's Mill community Monday, April 8, 9:30 a.m., following a stroke of apoplexy which she suffered Sunday night. She had been in failing health for some time. Last rites were conducted at the Harmony Grove Church of which she was a member, Tuesday, afternoon at 2 o'clock, with the pastor, Rev. R. L. Bridges, officiating. He was assisted by the Rev. O. L. Hughes and the Rev. H. H. McBride, Baptist ministers of Winnfield. Interment was in the Harmony Grove Cemetery. Acting as pallbearers were Dayton Hammons, Dean Hammons, John D. Hammons, J. E. Dark, Horace Boyett, and G. H. Walker. Mrs. Sikes, before her marriage in 1886, was Miss Carolyn Underwood, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joel Underwood, pioneer residents of the Fellowship Community. She resided all of her life in the Fellowship Community, until 27 years ago when she moved with her family to Gaars Mill. Surviving are her husband, J. R. Sikes; one son, D. E. Sikes, parish superintendent of education; three daughters, Miss Elgie Sikes, Mrs. Dayton Hammons, and Mrs. J. E. Dark, all of Gaars Mill; two sisters, Mrs. S. M. Riser, Shreveport, and Mrs. Jackson White, Sikes; and one brother, Ivy Underwood of Sikes.
