Sikes Monday Died Suddenly Sunday Afternoon From Heart Attack Funeral services for Jerome Sebastian Sikes, 36 years of age, who died suddenly at his home here Sunday afetrnoon were held at the Baptist Church, Sikes, La., of which the deceased was a member, Monday afternoon, a large number of friends from here and other sections of the parish attending. Rev. B. C. Land, pastor Winnfield Baptist Church, had charge of the services. Interment was in the Sikes Cemetery. Mr. Sikes was born December 7, 1897, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Warren Sikes. He was reared in the community of Sikes and was married to Miss Julia Wall of Sikes. To this union one daughter, Murl, was born. Besides his wife and daughter, he is survived by an adopted son, Joe Sikes, child of a deceased brother, and the following brothers and sisters: Bob and Jim of Sikes; Alf of Winnsboro, and Winifred of Winnfield; Mrs. Mertie Thompson and Mrs. Alma Thomopson of Sikes. Another brother, Rube Sikes, was killed while pulling logs near his home in Montrose, Ark., two weeks ago. Mr. Sikes and his family have resided in Winnfield about sixteen years and all that time he has been an employee of the Tremont & Gulf Railway Company. A special train was run on the T. & G. road to convey the remains and cortege to Sikes. Pallbearers were Messrs. J. I. Waller, Ovey Trahan, J. E. Gassiott, E. S. Cole, B. H. Williams, J. T. Steen, J. B. Warren, and C. E. Bright. All are employees of the T. & G. except for Mr. Waller, who is a former employee, and all are residents of Winnfield.
