All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Source: Winn Parish Enterprise, October 16, 1985 Mrs. Rosa Sikes Simmons Services for Mrs. Rosa Sikes Simmons, 86, of Monroe, Louisiana were held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 14th, at Kilpatrick's Funeral Home Chapel with Reverends Mickey Bounds, Jr., and Clifton Tennison officiating. Burial followed in Hasley Cemetery in West Monroe. She died Saturday morning, October 12, 1985, at West Monroe Guest House Nursing Home after a long illness. Mrs. Simmons, the daughter of J. F. W. and Sarah Parker Sikes, was a native and long time resident of the Sikes, Louisiana area where she and her late husband, Iley P. Simmons, reared their family and were former active members of Friendship Baptist Church. She was a current member of Highland Park Baptist Church in Monroe. Survivors include five sons, Cois D. Simmons and Frank W. Simmons, both of Monroe, DeVane Simmons of Ruston and LaVance Simmons of Beulaville, North Carolina; five daughters, Mrs. Vanoil Adams of Jena, Mrs. Earline Barlow of Monroe, Mrs. Mary Ethel Thames of West Monroe, Mrs. Annette Rankin of Baker and Mrs. Linda Bowman of Shreveport; one sister, Mrs. Ethel Hawthorne of Baton Rouge; 24 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
