Emma C. Simmons

Services for Emma Canerday Simmons of Calvin were held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday
in Bethlehem Baptist Church, Calvin, with the Rev. Herbert Whitten
officiating.  Burial was in the church cemetery under direction of Southern.

Mrs. Simmons, 80, died at 3:45 p.m. Thursday, November 24, 1983 in Autumn
Leaves Nursing Home.

Survivors include three sons, H. D. Canerday of Singer, J. D. Canerday and
Huey P. Canerday, both of Calvin; four brothers, C. D. Bates of Jonesboro,
Henry Bates of Winnfield, Earl Bates and Aura Bates, both of Calvin; two
sisters, Ruth Key of Calvin and Clara Foster of Shreveport; five
grandchildren, 13 grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.
