Simmons Services for Mrs. Zell Jones Simmons of Monroe, La., were held at 11 a.m. Monday, September 18, at Mulhearn Funeral Home Chapel on Sterlington Road, with the Rev. Peyton Bass officiating. Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. in Cypress Creek Cemetery near Dodson, La. Mrs. Simmons, 60, died Saturday, September 16, 1989, at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe after a lengthy illness. She was a homemaker and a member of Highland Park Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, Cois D. Simmons, a Sikes native, of Monroe; two sons, Gary Wayne Simmons of Monroe, and Bruce Delane Simmons of Shreveport, La.; three sisters, Jean Chestnut of Quitman, La., Betty Jones of Pineville, La., and Mary Ann Baynes of Virginia; one brother, Bill Jones of Tupelo, Miss.,; her mother, Mrs. Gilbert (Ruby Mae) Jones of Cypress Creek Community, near Dodson, La.,; and four grandchildren.
