Final Rites Held For Mrs. Simmons At Friendship

Funeral services were conducted Monday, September 8, at 1:30 p.m. at the
Friendship Baptist Church near Sikes for Mrs. Doria Simmons, of 3057 Fulton
Street, Shreveport, who died in a Shreveport hospital Saturday, September 6.

Rev. J. M. Cason of Shreveport and Rev. Willie James of Winnfield officiated. 
Burial was in the Friendship Cemetery under direction of Edmonds Funeral Home.

Acting as pallbearers were Fred Tucker, Edgar Simmons, Shelby Simmons, James
Simmons, Cecil Ray Taylor, and Richard McCartney.

Survivors include her husband, L. R. Simmons, Shreveport; one son, Douglas;
one daughter, Melba Karen, both of Shreveport; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. W.
Hughen, Winnfield; three sisters, Mrs. Cecil Taylor and Marcia Lee Hughen,
Winnfield; Mrs. Richard McCartney, Shreveport; one brother, Joe Hughen, who is
in the U. S. Navy, Norfolk, Va.; her grandmother, Mrs. G. W. Hughen, Dodson.

The deceased was born and reared in the Hudson community.
