Simmons, 56, of Sikes, died Saturday, June 29, 1968 at his home after a lengthy illness. Funeral services were at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Sikes Baptist Church with the Rev. Willie James officiating. Burial was in Sikes Cemetery. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Opal Simmons of Sikes; one son, Willie James Simmons of Bastrop; four daughters, Mrs. Geraldine Gibson, Ferriday, Mrs. Merle Ezell, West Monroe, Mrs. Bobby Vickers, Olla, and Mrs. Joan McDaniel, Sikes; three brothers, Ray Simmons, Shreveport, Shelby Simmons and Edgar Simmons, both of West Monroe; four sisters, Ms. Avis Tucker, Sikes, Mrs. Molly Berry, Mrs. Myrtle Crain, and Mrs. Oleta Parker, all of West Monroe; his father, Victor Simmons, West Monroe; 12 grandchildren.
