All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: July 22, 1937 Winn Parish Enterprise Typhoid Claims Life of Nora Lea Simmons Last Rites Were Held at Friendship Church Sunday Hearts of friends and relatives in the Mineral Springs community were deeply touched when the death angel visited the home of Mr. and Mrs. W. V. Simmons and took from their midst their beloved daughter, Nora Lee, aged 16. Nora Lea was born October 25, 1921 and died July 17, 1937 after an illness of typhoid fever which lasted only two weeks. She was in a Shreveport hospital. Her sunny smile and sweet disposition will be missed not only by her family but by a host of friends as well. She was a member of the ninth grade class of Sikes High School and will be missed by teachers and friends there. She united with the Friendship Baptist Church at an early age and her beautiful Christian life was an inspiration to all who knew her. Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon at the Friendship Baptist Church with Rev. Dave and Rev. Head in charge. Edmonds Funeral Home directed the funeral. The deceased is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. V. Simmons, and the following sisters and brothers: Mrs. Marvin Crain, Mrs. Fred Tucker, and Nell and Oleta Simmons, and Messrs. Grady, Edgar, Ray, Sharon, and Shelby Simmons. Her paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. W. V. Simmons also survive along with several aunts and uncles. Pallbearers were uncles of the deceased: Messrs. Ruel, Reuben, and Lewis Parker and Messrs. Horace, Jack, and Carson Simmons.
