L. Simmons Last Rites Held At Liberty Chapel William Louis Simmons, 63, died July 31 in a Winnfield hospital after a lengthy illness. He was a retired railroad section foreman. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. August 1, in the Liberty Chapel Methodist Church in Williana, with Rev. Ed Pickens officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery under direction of Hixson Funeral Home of Winnfield. Pallbearers were Lonnie Cotton, C. E. Langston, Earl J. Durran, W. E. Deville, Alvin Dryden, and Orville Slayter. Masonic graveside rites were conducted. Survivors are his widow; two sons, Lorrand O. Simmons of Houston, Texas, and Vollie Simmons of St. Louis, Mo.; two daughters, Mrs. Sammy Nell Murray of DeWitt, Ark., and Mrs. Barbara Font of New Orleans; two brothers, Jesse Simmons of Pollock and Henry Simmons of Delhi; a sister, Mrs. Artie Deloney of Pollock, and eight grandchildren.
