Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home of Monroe with the Rev. Charles Scott and the Rev. W. D. Boddie officiating. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery. A native of Dodson, Mrs. Simmons had resided in Monroe for more than 50 years and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Monroe. She was a retired elementary school teacher with the Ouachita Parish School System where she taught at Logtown and Millsaps. Survivors include her husband, Dewey Simmons of Monroe and one sister, Mrs. Victor Scott of Alexandria. Pallbearers were John Kelly, Robert Kelly, Douglas Kelly, Curney Kelly, Harvey Oliver, Flynn Oliver, Dr. Victor Scott and Julius Scott.
