W. R. Simmons Funeral Held Here On Monday

William Robert Simmons, 56 year old local oil operator, died in New Orleans
January 23.  Funeral services were held here Monday, January 25.

Rites were from the Hixson Funeral Home Chapel at 2 p.m. with Rev. Luther L.
Booth, pastor of the Winnfield Methodist Church, officiating.

Mr. Simmons, with his brother, C. E. Simmons, have been among the top
promoters in the Joyce field since it was opened here more than five years
ago.  He has also been active in the oil business in other sections.

Mr. Simmons is survived by his widow, Mrs. Helen Simmons; two sons, William
Robert Simmons III and David Jackson Simmons; two brothers, C. E. Simmons of
Winnfield and Jack Simmons of Fort Worth; one sister, Mrs. May Gern of Wood
River, Ill.

Pallbearers were J. J. Johnson, Dan C. Regan, Puckett Willis, A. Gehrig, B. N.
Tidwell, John S. Waterman, Jr., Ray Eagles, and Glen Loe.
