All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: February 20, 1930 Winn Parish Enterprise Funeral Services For Howard Skains Held Wednesday Had Been In Ill Health Four Years; Services At Baptist Church; Interment Local Cemetery Funeral services for Howard Skains, who died at his home here, Tuesday afternoon, were held at the First Baptist Church, Wednesday afternoon at 4 o'clock. The Rev. Cullen, pastor, assisted by the Rev. Wier and the Rev. Stokes had charge of the services. Interment was in the Winnfield Cemetery. Mr. Skains was 37 years of age. He was born in Union Parish, and had been a resident of Winnfield since the age of eight years. He was a member of the local First Baptist Church. Mr. Skains had bee in ill health about four years. Sunday, February 9, he was carried to a New Orleans sanitarium for treatment, but was brought back to his home, Monday, February 14, where he died the next day. The deceased is survived by his wife, and three children: Howard, Jr., Richard Wayne, and Mary Nell; his father, W. P. Skains, and six brothers, William Pinksey of Ferriday, Luther of Joyce; R. D., Eugene, Byron, and Vester Skains, of Winnfield.
