P. Skains Are Held Tuesday Retired Carpenter Succumbs After Short Illness W. P. Skains, 82 years, five months and four days, died at a local clinic Monday, January 12, 1942 after a brief illness. Funeral services were held at the East Winnfield Baptist Church Tuesday afternoon under the direction of Edmond's Funeral Home. Pastors conducting the services were the Rev. W. D. McDaniel, Rev. H. H. McBride, and Rev. Alwin Stokes. Interment was in the East Winnfield Cemetery. Mr. Skains, a carpenter by trade, was born at Farmerville, La., in Union Parish. He moved to Winn Parish in 1895, and to Winnfield in 1901, where he has resided ever since. Surviving are five sons, R. D., Vester, and Byron, of Winnfield; W. P. Jr., of Ferriday and L. D. of Coushatta; two brothers, Lee and Dan Skains of Farmerville, La., and 18 grandchildren. Pallbearers were Marshal H. W. Bass, Harper Terrill, Jack Miller, Joe Weeks, Arnold Sikes, and Eli Harrell.
