Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday in Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Winnfield with the Rev. W. R. Gage officiating. Burial was in Zion Cemetery near Georgetown. Mrs. Skains, a practical nurse, was a native of Winn Parish and a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Winnfield. Survivors are a daughter, Sarah S. Blanchard of Jonesboro; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Nettie Pardons of Winnfield; four stepsons, R. D. Skains of Winnfield, James Skains of Joyce, O. B. Skains of Montgomery, and L. E. Skains of Monroe; four brothers, Oran Capps of Tullos and Aaron, Arthur, and J. W. Capps of Georgetown; two sisters, Mrs. Ethel C. Peebles of Minneapolis, Minn., and Mrs. Flora C. Carnahan of Georgetown, and 15 grandchildren. Pallbearers were Ronald Skains, Jimmy Skains, Wayne Skains, Lamar Skains, B. G. Skains, and Billy Skains.
