K. Smith Rites Held Services for P. K. Smith, 65, of Winnfield, were held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the First Baptist Church of Winnfield with Dr. Calvin Phelps assisted by the Revs. Charles Haley and Doyle Wesson officiating. Burial was in Garden of Memories Cemetery under direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield. Mr. Smith died Friday, March 25, 1983 at Humana Hospital in Winn Parish after a long illness. He was a native of Winnfield, a veteran of World War II and a member of the First Baptist Church of Winnfield. He was also a member of Calvin Masonic Lodge No. 431 F. & A. M., a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Shreveport Scottish Rite. From 1960-64 he was a state representative. He was the former owner of the Huey P. Long Motel in Winnfield and at the time of his death was the owner of P. K. Smith Chevrolet-Olds in Winnfield. He was a prominent local citizen and civic leader. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Margie Smith of Winnfield; two sons, Perry Joe Smith and Mike Smith, both of Winnfield; two brothers, Clyde C. Smith, Sr. and Hardy "Junior" Smith, both of Winnfield; three sisters, Miss Clotile Smith, Mrs. Vernita Moore, and Mrs. Ruby Long, all of Winnfield and five grandchildren. Pallbearers were Donald O'Neal, Ranel Brady, Dickie Heard, Mickey Simmons, Ray Daughtry, Robert Smith, Marlin Collins, and John Carter.
