Wayland Smith Services for J. Wayland Smith, 78, of Oak Grove, were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Trinity Baptist Church in Oak Grove with the Revs. Davis Dean, H. G. Hammons, and J. D. Cheatham officiating. Burial was in Oak Grove Cemetery under direction of Cox Funeral Home of Oak Grove. Mr. Smith died Sunday, November 14, 1982 at Carroll Nursing Home in Oak Grove after a short illness. He was a charter member of Trinity Baptist Church; a former Oak Grove High School teacher; former president of Farm Bureau Association; and a former member of the Macon Economic Opportunity Board, and a native of Winn Parish. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mary Clayton Smith of Oak Grove; two sons, James W. Smith of Greenbelt, MD., and Roy C. Smith of Norphlet, Ark.; two daughter Mrs. Patsy Hayes of Welch, Mrs. Sarah Livengood of DeRidder; one brother, Stanley Smith of Sikes; eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Pallbearers were Gerald Littlefield, Blane Littlefield, Billy Scoggins, Jerry Key, Cecil Stanford, and Charlie Bedenbender.
