Smith, Former Resident of Winn Parish, Dies July 2 Evander A. Smith, age 74, who was for many years a resident of Winn Parish, died Wednesday, July 2. Mr. Smith lived in Winn Parish until ten years ago when he moved to Pineville. His home was formerly at Beech Creek where he farmed. Funeral services were held Friday morning at ten o'clock. The body was carried from the residence of J. Hugh Smith of Pineville, son of the deceased, to the Baptist church were services were conducted by theRev. T. W. Gayer, pastor, and the Rev. C. A. DeVane, pastor of the Emanuel Baptist Church of Alexandria. Interment was made in the ______wood Memorial Park under the direction of Hixson Brothers, funeral directors. Services were conducted at the grave for the departed brother by members of Solomon Lodge, F. & A. M., of Pineville, of which Dr. C. D. Smith is worshipful master. Active pallbearers were J. A. ________, C. W. Brister, O. U. Payne, ____ Downs, W. Strother, Dr. W. P. ___________, T. Dodd, and Dr. C. Cottingham. Honorary pallbearers were _____ Beal, J. M. Delaney, W. E. ________, H. M. Weathersby, D. C. ______, F. M. Smith, George An_____, and Josiah Smith.
