H. Smith, Sr., Winn Native, Dies Feb. 11 Funeral services for Henry H. Smith, Sr., 85, of 1109 South 6th Street, Monroe, were held at 3 p.m. Thursday, February 13, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home in Monroe, with the Rev. Joe Mongle officiating. Burial was in the Riverview Cemetery. Mr. Smith died Tuesday night, February 11, at Pilgrim's Rest Home in Bossier City following a lengthy illness. He was a native of Winn Parish, a retired employee of the U. S. Corps of Engineers, and a World War I veteran. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Zettie S. Smith of Monroe; a daughter, Mrs. O. R. Post of Temple Terrace, Fla.; three sons, Leonard S. Smith of Monroe, Henry H. Smith, Jr., of Benton, and Earl Smith of Ferriday; two brothers, Houston Smith of Winnfield and James I. Smith of Ponchatoula; one sister, Mrs. A. L. Ladner of Ponchatoula; and a number of grandchildren. Pallbearers included D. L. Staples, Jr., James B. Staples, Jimmy Staples, Virgil Staples, Danny Staples, and George Roger Smith.
