John O. Smith Dies; Rites Held Wednesday

John Otis Smith, 714, of Route 3, Jonesboro, died around 1 p.m. Monday,
October 23, 1967, in Jonesboro Hospital after a long illness.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Midway Baptist Church near
Jonesboro with the Revs. J. C. Creel and Cecil Lee officiating.

Burial was in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Jackson Parish and a retired farmer.

Survivors include two sons, Harlen Smith, Dodson, and Harmon Smith, Tallulah;
one daughter, Mrs. Audie Mae Wells, Jonesboro; two sisters, Mrs. Jennie
Taylor, Jonesboro, and Mrs. Thular White, Big Springs, Texas; 12
grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren.
