W. B. Smilie, Former Winnfield Editor Dead

W. B. Smilie, age 60 years, former editor of the Winnfield Comrade and for a
number of years a resident of Winnfield, died at Copperas Cove, Texas, April
20th.  For some time before his death he was editor and publisher of the
Copperas Cove Croney of the town in which he died.

In the year 1904 Mr. Smiley came to Winnfield from Ruston and was employed in
the printing offices of Winnfield.  He later bought the Comrade which he
edited for about three years and later sold to his uncle, Wm. L. Smiley, who
is still living and was with his nephew at the time of his death.

Mr. Smiley is survived by his wife and 7 children.  His wife has taken charge
of her husband's paper as editor and publisher.
