R. Smith, 79, Succumbs; Rites Monday Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday for Mrs. Isabel White Smith, 79, of Sikes, at the Hurricane Grove Baptist Church near Sikes with the Rev. Edward Smith officiating. Burial followed in the Wright Cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield. Mrs. Smith died Saturday night, January 1, 1972, at the Lincoln General Hospital in Ruston following a long illness. Mrs. Smith, a native of Sikes, was a lifelong resident of the area. She was a member of the Hurricane Grove Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, W. R. Smith of Sikes; five sons, Stacey Smith, Delmer Smith, both of Lake Charles, Curtis W. Smith of Olla, Max Smith of Sikes, and Jack Smith of Winnfield; two daughters, Mrs. L. R. Simmons of Hammond and Mrs. Tom Kelly of Ruston; one sister, Mrs. Carrie White of Sikes; 25 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Grandsons served as pallbearers.
