All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: November 19, 1964 Winn Parish Enterprise News-American Father Of Mrs. Grady Crooks Is Buried Nov. 14 Funeral services for Silas Smith, 74 year old Grant Parish native who died in a Monroe hospital Nov. 13, after a long illness, were held at 10 a.m. Nov. 14 in the Sanders Church near Winnfield. Burial was in the church cemetery under direction of Southern Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Lewis Sills, Gregory Crooks, Ovie Mosley, Theodore Booty, Gary Scobee, and K. R. Conner. Mr. Smith, a resident of Clarks, was a retired forester and a member of the Old Bethel Baptist Church. Survivors are his widow; three daughters, Ms. Lewis Sills of San Antonio, Texas; Mrs. J. Y. Starling of Clarks, and Mrs. Grady Crooks of Winnfield; two brothers, Carl Smith of Almagordo, N. M., and Lester Smith of Port Arthur, Texas; two sisters, Mrs. Lelia Edom and Mrs. Della Hiatt of Houston, Tex.; three grandchildren and one great grandchild. He also leaves one stepdaughter, Mrs. K. R. Conner of Provencal. Houston Smith of Winnfield was a first cousin to the deceased.
