He was a retired timber man and has spent practically his entire life in the Corinth Community, and was a member of the Corinth Baptist Church. Funeral services were conducted at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Corinth Baptist Church, with the Rev. George Foster and the Rev. Alson Jeter officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery under direction of Edmonds Funeral Home. Acting as pallbearers were Louie James, Roy T. Waxley, Cranford Melton, Robert Smith, Thomas Waxley, and Harmon Chandler. Survivors include one son, Noble Smith of Winnfield; five daughters, Mrs. Sam Collins and Mrs. Roscoe Bice, both of Winnfield; Mrs. V. G. Adams, Miss Lela Smith, and Mrs. George Schmidt, all of Hodge; two brothers, Jim Smith and Charles Smith, both of Winnfield; two sisters, Mrs. John Dawson of Monroe and Mrs. R. W. Bartley of Winnfield; eight grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
