James Ernest Smith, 67, of Ball, died in a Shreveport hospital at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, February 1, 1968 following a brief illness. Funeral rites were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Tullos Baptist Church with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery at Bentley. Survivors include his wife, Nola Pendarvis Smith; two sons, Richard Smith of Alexandria and Dr. J. E. Smith of Shreveport; a half brother, Robert Smith of Monroe; two sisters, Mae Youngblood of Pollock and Frances Corley of Tullos. Mr. Smith was a retired city employee of Tullos. He was associated with his wife in a floral business at Tullos.
