Funeral services were conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Crossroads (Five Forks Community east of Atlanta) with the Rev. C. C. Martin and Glen Griffin officiating. Interment, under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield, was in the Sardis Cemetery, following the services. Smith, a retired farmer, served on the school board from 1952 to 1964, acting as president of the board for one year. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Zula Smith of Winnfield; two sons, Glenn Smith of Winnfield and Jack E. Smith of Montgomery; one daughter, Miss Carol Smith of Atlanta; one brother, P. B. Smith of Winnfield; four sisters, Miss Rosalee Smith, Miss Lonie Smith, Mrs. C. W. Fox, and Mrs. Bessie Mercer, all of Winnfield, and a half sister, Mrs. Ivy Wyatt of Jonesboro; two grandchildren. Acting as pallbearers were Denvor Fox, Laurie Mercer, Perry Joe Smith, Clyde Smith, Jr., Jerry T. Smith, C. R. Long.
