Martin Smith At Jerusalem Jan. 21 Last rites for G. Martin Smith, 82, who died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Myrtle Blake, in Goldonna January 19, were held at Jerusalem Wednesday afternoon with the Rev. H. J. Mott, Rev. Ed Bedgood, and Judge Cas Moss in charge of the services. Burial was in the Jerusalem Cemetery under direction of Southern Funeral Home. A native of Winn Parish, the deceases was the son of the late Joseph Smith and Adeline Caves Smith, pioneer settlers of this section. He first married Camella Chandler in 1888 and to this union ten children were born, six of them whom survive him. Later he was married to Bertha Holmes, who now survives him together with a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren. Surviving are John Smith, Ruston, Gussie Smith, San Antonio, Texas; four daughters, Mrs. Myrtle Blake, Goldonna, Mrs. Maude Sanders, Minden, Mrs. Mary McKellar, Homer, and Mrs. Carrie Lee Blackwell, Athens, La. Pallbearers were six grandsons, George Sanders, Huey Blake, Troy Sanders, M. L. Blake, Billy J. Sanders, and James Gates.
