All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: May 28, 1936 Winn Parish Enterprise Gertrude Smith Killed In Car Wreck May 21 Worker on Dugdemonia Bridge Also Seriously Injured Mary Gertrude Smith, about 20 years of age, was instantly killed when a Ford car in which she was riding turned over several times on a curve near Tullos last Thursday night. Miss Gussie Fay Berry, 25, and Mrs. O. R. Lilly, employed on the construction of the Dugdemonia bridge near here, were both injured in the wreck. Mr. Lilly was carried to the Olla clinic where his condition was pronounced serious. Last reports however were that he would probably recover. Miss Berry received treatment in the Winnfield clinic. She suffered bruises and cuts and one ear was almost severed. Funeral services for Miss Smith were conducted at Corinth Saturday afternoon, under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home. Surviving are the parents, Mr. and Mrs. Darius Smith of Winnfield, Route Two; five sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Sam Collins and Armon Smith of Winnfield, Mrs. George Smith, Miss Lela Smith, Mrs. Virus Adams and Noble Smith of Hodge, and Mrs. Roscoe Bice of Bossier City.
