Mrs. Smith was a native of Winn and was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. F. O. Davis, and was a member of the New Hope Methodist Church. Last rites were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 11, at New Hope Church with Rev. George Foster and Rev. Dell Durand officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery under direction of Southern Funeral Home. Acting as pallbearers were Grady, Murray, Norwood, and Glen Smith, Melvin Mobley and Otis Machen. Surviving are her husband, Loyd Smith of Dodson; five sons, Edgar Dale Smith of Childers, Texas, John and Franklin of Morgan City, David and Frayne of Dodson; two daughters, Mrs. Manuel (Francis) Watson, Dodson, and Mrs. M. (Loyce) Calaway of Houston, Texas; 10 grandchildren. She also leaves four sisters, Mrs. Gladys Tullos, Tullos, Mrs. Avis Mobley, Alexandria, Mrs. Florence Martin, Hodge, Mis Mildred Davis, Dodson, and one brother, Conrad Davis, of Baton Rouge; and a host of other relatives and friends.
