Bryan Smith of Montgomery, Sunday Mrs. Julia Williamson Smith, aged 74, wife of J. Bryan Smith, died at the home of her son, L. G. Smith, Montgomery, La., Sunday, August 22, after a long illness. Funeral services were held at Springville Cemetery near Coushatta, Monday with Rev. Holland officiating. Edmonds Funeral Home was in charge. Active pallbearers were Sheriff Floyd Jones and W. O. Townsend of Coushatta, L. Dow Wardlow, E. W. Rodgers, J. N. Carter, W. H. Kilpatrick, J. M. Thomas, F. G. Wardlow, and D. S. Mathis of Montgomery, B. Tubre of Alexandria. Honorary pallbearers were General Len Stephens, Ben Stephens, A. H. Horton, Dr. Lee, Ed Lisso, Lesh Nettles of Coushatta, and Joe Nettle of Belcher. Mrs. Smith was born at Mt. Lebanon, Bienville Parish, November 19, 1863. At the age of seventeen years she was united with the Baptist Church and remained a member until her death. On March 25, 1882, she was married to J. Bryan Smith. In 1890 she moved to Red River Parish where she reared her family and spent the better portion of her life. Besides her husband, J. Bryan Smith, she is survived by three sons, J. W. Smith of Brownsville, Texas, L. G. Smith of Montgomery, D. K. Smith of Tampico, Mexico; two daughters, Mrs. F. A. Post of Houston, Texas and Mrs. Henry Ingerman of Alexandria; ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Willie Roberson of Shreveport.
