M. Sanders Held January 7 Funeral services for Crockett M. Sanders, 60, lifelong resident of Winnfield, were held at the Winnfield Presbyterian Church at 3 o'clock Wednesday afternoon, January 7, with the Rev. Alwin Stokes officiating. Burial was in the Boyett Cemetery near Gorhamtown under direction of Southern Funeral Home. Mr. Sanders passed away at his home about 4 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, January 6, after a long illness. He was a member of the Presyterian Church and was well known throughout this section. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Martha Sanders of Winnfield; one son, Dewitt R. Sanders of Ruston; four daughters, Ms. Fred Mixon of Atlanta, Mrs. Alvin Keen of Tullos, Mrs. Clifford Melton and Mrs. Lonnie Franks of Winnfield; and one sister, Mrs. Nila Taylor of Winnfield. He is also survived by three half sisters, 15 grandchildren, and one great grandchild. Active pallbearers were Welby Willis, Melton Hightower, John Y. Bell, Harper Terrill, Joe W. Mitchell, D. L. Hoffman, James Eagles, and H. A. Porter. Honorary pallbearers were W. U. Drewett, G. M. Walsworth, Bryant Sholars, C. F. Walsworth, E. J. Buchanan, C. W. Allen, G. H. Hightower, C. O. Lattier, Ralph Frazier, Dudley Shell, Fletcher Melton, E. D. Nichols, Dan Page, Ellis Prince, Arthur McMurry, J. C. Brooks, Jr., Will Dean, J. W. Richardson, and Eli Harrell.
