M. at 10:30 Funeral services for Miss Cora Sowers, who died Wednesday evening about 6:30 at a local hospital will be held at the First Baptist Church Friday morning at 10:30. Rev. John William Warner will conduct the services that will be concluded with interment in the Winnfield Cemetery. The deceased was a lifelong resident of Winn Parish and had been engaged in the mercantile business since early girlhood when she started as saleslady for local stores. More than 25 years ago she opened her own business in which she remained active until a few years ago, when failing health necessitated retirement to quieter pursuits. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Jasper Sowers were pioneer residents of Winn Parish. Mrs. Sowers, her mother, before her marriage was Miss Eunice McCarty. Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Eva Scott and Mrs. Jean Dark, and a number of nieces and nephews. The body will remain in the parlors of Hixson's Funeral Home until time for the services Friday morning. Pallbearers were nephews of the deceased: Don Dark, Jean Clair Dark, Charles Dark, Harry Dark, John W. McCloy, Harold C. McCloy, and George Scott.
