Last Rites Held For K. Sookal In Winnfield Dec. 22

Funeral services for Korziman Sookal, 62, a resident of Winn Parish since 
1910, were held at the Southern Funeral Home chapel on Tuesday afternoon,
December 22, with the Rev. Alwin Stokes officiating.  Burial was in Winnfield
Cemetery under direction of Southern Funeral Home.

Mr. Sookal died at his home on Jones Street, Winnfield, on Friday, December
19, after an illness of several months.

He was born in Lithuania, Europe on March 4, 1885, and came to the United
States in 1905.  He moved to Winn Parish about 1910 and several years later
established a locksmith, gunsmith, and tailor business in Winnfield.

He is survived by his widow; one brother, Andrew Shark of Pennsylvania; and
one sister, Mrs. Margaret Schoomer of Denver, Colorado.

(According to Briley's Cemetery Directory, the first name on Mr. Sookul's
headstone is 'Kazimieras')
