All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: July 2, 1948 Winnfield News American Funeral Conducted Monday for Aged Winn Resident Mrs. Annie Sowers, 91, of Sikes, Dies Sunday Night Funeral services were conducted here at 4:30 p.m. Monday for Mrs. Annie Newsom Sowers, 91 of Sikes, who died Sunday at 8 p.m. at the home of her daughter, Mrs. C. J. Erskins of Sikes. Rites were conducted in the First Baptist Church by the Rev. H. H. McBride, pastor, and interment was in the Winnfield cemetery under the direction of the Southern Funeral Home. The deceased was a native of Winn parish where she spent all of her life with the exception of six years during which she resided in Texas. She was the widow of the late N. C. Sowers, a farmer of the Shady Grove community near Sikes, and was a member of the Baptist Church. She is survived by three sons, G. R. Sowers of West Monroe and J. N. Sowers and E. H. Sowers of Winnfield; two daughters, Mrs. C. J. Erskins and Mrs. Cora Abrams of Sikes; a brother H. L. Newsom of Delhi, a sister, Mrs. C. C. Jarrell of Columbia; 29 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
