Frank Bronson of Winnsboro was driving and a Miss Pruitt, of Archibald, La., who occupied the front seat with him, escaped with slight injuries. It was stated by the survivors that as they were driving they suddenly saw two long wagons looming before them on the right hand side of the road and that Bronson turned the car sharply to the left to avoid the crash. The machine was so close however, that one of the projected logs caught the rear end of the machine, crashed through it and killed Miss Sowers and Mr. McVey instantly. The above clipping from the Shreveport Times will be of interest to many of our readers whose sympathy with that of the entire community is with Mr. and Mrs. Sowers because of this unfortunate accident which resulted in the immediate death of their granddaughter, Miss Gladys Sowers, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rufus Sowers of Crowville. Miss Sower was 17 years of age and was a member of the senior class of the Crowville High School. Funeral services were held for Gladys in Crowville, Friday afternoon at __ o'clock. Winnfield relatives attending the funeral were Mrs. N. C. Sowers, Mr. J. N. Sowers, Miss Violet Sowers and son John Sowers.
