Mrs. John Sowers Rites Conducted Wednesday P. M.

Long Time Resident of Winnfield Dies Tuesday Morning

Funeral services were held at the First Baptist Church at 4 p.m. Wednesday for
Mrs. Leola Johnson Sowers, 64, of Winnfield, who died at about 8 a.m. Tuesday
at her residence.  Rites were conducted by Dr. W. L. Holcomb, pastor of the
First Baptist Church, and interment was in the Winnfield Cemetery under the
direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home.

A native of Natchitoches Parish, Mrs. Sowers was born July 6, 1887.

She is survived by her husband, John Sowers; two daughters, Mrs. Violet Gates
of Winnfield and Mrs. June Duncan of Franklin; and two sisters, Mrs. Bill
Melton of Minden and Mrs. Eva Shuffler of Minden.
