Mrs. John Sowers Final Rites Held Here Wednesday

Mrs. Leola Johnson Sowers, 61, of Winnfield was buried here Wednesday at 4
p.m. following her death from a sudden heart attack at her home Tuesday
morning.

Mrs. Sowers, a native of Natchitoches Parish, had lived in Winnfield for the
past 46 years.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church, in which she was
an active worker.

Services were conducted in the First Baptist Church by Dr. W. L. Holcomb,
pastor, assisted by Rev. Hartsfield of Minden.  Burial was under direction of
Hixson Funeral Home, in Winnfield Cemetery.

Survivors are her husband, J. N. Sowers of Winnfield; two daughters, Mrs.
Violet Gates of Winnfield and Mrs. June Duncan of Franklin; two sisters, Mrs.
Bill Melton and Mrs. Eva Shufler, both of Minden; and three aunts, Mrs. Oscar
Garriss of Winnfield, Mrs. Dora Gresham of Monroe, and Mrs. Theo Lasyone of
Verda.

Pallbearer were Morris Melton, B. T. Melton, A. L. Smith, A. E. Garriss, J. C.
Allbritton, Stanley Smith, Robert Byrnes, and Everett Burke.
