Funeral Services For D. Stroud Held February 24

Funeral services for Deck Stroud, 63, were held at the Union Hill Baptist
Church, Wednesday, February 24.  Mr. Stroud died February 23, in Huey Long
Memorial Hospital in Alexandria.

He had been in failing health for some time and had undergone an operation a
few weeks ago.

Rev. Jerry Green, assisted by Rev. Waynon Mott and Rev. A. N. Baum, conducted
the services.  Burial was in the Winnfield Cemetery.

Survivors include three sons, Elbert Stroud and James Henry Stroud of
Montgomery, Aaron Stroud of Alexandria; two daughters, Mrs. Sally Johnson and
Mrs. Ervin Neal, both of Montgomery, and 13 grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Mack McGinty, Willard McGinty, Paul Downs, Frank Crew, and
Henry LaCour.

(Only five pallbearers are listed.  Also, I find no listing in Briley's for
Deck Stroud, and cannot figure why he would have been buried in the Winnfield
Cemetery rather than Mt. Zion)
