Stroud, who died from injuries received in an auto accident on Coors Road SW, Albuquerque, N. M. The accident occurred Thursday night, November 12. Chief Stroud of the Navy Administration Unit at Sandia Base, died Friday night, November 13 in the base hospital. He was 37. He was injured when his car collided with one driven by Airman 1C Donald F. Shoup, Jr., of West Mesa Air Force Base, sheriff's deputies in Albuquerque said. Chief Stroud lost control of his car and crossed over into the left lane. Airman Shoup's car struck the Chief's car at this point. The airman was treated at Sandia Base hospital for minor injuries. The airman was going north and Chief Stroud was headed south. Chief Stroud was the son of Mrs. C. B. Luther of Atlanta and the late Walter Stroud. Funeral services were conducted at the Mt. Zion Methodist Church Tuesday, Nov. 17, at 3 p.m. under direction of Hixson Bros. Funeral Home. Officiating were the chaplain from the Albuquerque Base and the Rev. D. S. Durand, pastor of the church. Burial was in the church cemetery with military rites and personnel of the Navy acting as pallbearers. Chief Stroud graduated from the Atlanta High School and attended Huey P. Long Memorial Trade School, later enlisted in the Navy, where he had served the past 18 years. He was a member of the Mt. Zion Church. Surviving are his wife and five children of Starks, La.; parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. B. Luther of Atlanta; three sister, Mrs. Ethel McManus and Mrs. Iver McManus of Baytown, Texas, and Mrs. LaJuana Ferguson of Atlanta; two brothers, Johnnie Stroud and Virgil Luther of Lake Charles.
