M. Stovall, 77, Formerly of Winn, Dies in Shreveport Dennis M. Stovall, 77, died at his home in Shreveport Saturday afternoon after a long illness. Last rites were conducted Monday with burial in Shreveport. A member of a prominent North Louisiana pioneer family, Mr. Stovall was born in Stovall, Jackson Parish, but spent most of his life in Dodson and Sikes. While residing at Sikes he organized a Methodist Church and was superintendent of the Sunday School. Mr. Stovall served as a member of the Winn Parish School Board at one time and also in other community officers. During his residence in Shreveport for the past 20 years he has been an insurance agent. Survivors include his widow, a member of the Gaar family of Winn Parish, now of Shreveport; nine children, D. M. Stovall, Jr., of Carthage, Tex., Mrs. Velda Prince of Shreveport, Mrs. Maurine McCarty of Rayville, Karl and John of Carthage, Tex., Rev. James L. Stovall of Baton Rouge, and Mrs. Sarah Fouts, Mrs. Evelyn Finuf, and Mrs. Carlotta Ferguson, all of Shreveport; and three sisters, Mrs. Willie Dickerson of Chatham, Mrs. Mae Douglas of DeQuincy, and Mrs. Hazel Southard of Texas City, Texas. Attending the funeral from Winn Parish were Shelby Gaar of Winnfield, and Mr. and Mrs. S. H. Gaar and Roy Gaar of Dodson.
